FATMAP launches on Android with exclusive 48 hour lifetime offer.

After the sensational reaction to the launch of FATMAP for Apple users, the
3D skiing app launches on the Google Play Store this *Saturday 14th March*,
with a special 48 hour offer of ‘FATMAP for Life’, exclusively for
Android
users.

Since the launch of FATMAP, over 6,000 eager skiers and boarders have
downloaded the app, taking it to number two in the UK Apple store, and
number one sports app in Sweden.

To celebrate their Android launch, users will be able to purchase a one
year Piste or Freeride subscription to Chamonix, Verbier or Zermatt ski
areas during the limited FATMAP 48 hour offer, then each person who
purchases automatically receives that subscription every year for life, for
free.

The new ultra-high resolution 3D ski mapping app is set to revolutionise
skiing and snowboarding by offering unique features never seen before in a
ski map. The new technology will redefine navigation and route planning, as
skiers and snowboarders experience the latest high resolution 3D models of
the most popular ski areas. All with a grid resolution of just 2m.
This unprecedented
level of detail, and the ability to move around the 3D world from any angle
and distance, will transform how users plan a day out on the slopes, both
on and off the piste.

There are two versions of FATMAP depending on your passion; a PISTE version
and a FREERIDE version. Both offer high-resolution 3D terrain mapping,
detailed route descriptions, 3D fly-throughs, interactive resort and
conditions information, real-time location sharing and ski tracking with
stats. The FREERIDE version also details off-piste routes giving profile
information and includes terrain intelligence features such as: gradient
heat mapping, aspect mapping, altitude segmentation, crevasse zones and
avalanche zones. The creators hope the app will help skiers make better
informed decisions and explore further in the mountains, safely.

The exclusive ‘FATMAP for Life’ offer exclusively for Android will be
available for download from the Google Play store from 00:00 on Saturday 14
th March until 23:59 on Sunday 15th March 2015 for Chamonix, Verbier and
Zermatt.

Subscriptions are £4.99/€6.99 for FATMAP Piste and £15.99/€20.99 for
FATMAP
Freeride, per resort per year. Choose a 12-month subscription and you
will automatically
receive a lifetime subscription for your chosen ski area - no code needed.
Normal subscription rates apply after the launch offer period expires. More
resorts including Espace Killy and Paradiski and an app version for Windows
phones will be available soon.

*All brand references to the name FATMAP should display it as one word,

*About FATMAP:*

FATMAP is based on the simple principle - *Know more. Do more*. We believe
that uncertainty stops us from pushing our limits and finding out who we
truly are. This belief is what drives every decision we make. It's about
empowering skiers with the knowledge and tools to explore further, safely.

We are an organisation of mountain guides, ski mountaineers and climbers
based in the UK and French Alps. We know and understand mountains and the
safety and navigation challenges they present for all mountain users,
especially off-piste skiers. We are also working with national
organisations, including the *British Mountain Guides *and mountain rescue
professionals to test FATMAP and ensure it delivers the very best and
up-to-date information needed by the mountain user.

The idea to develop FATMAP came about on a ski expedition to Albania in
2010 where the founding partners Dave Cowell and Misha Gopaul met.

Dave, an experienced software developer and Geography scholar from Oxford
University is a self-confessed mapping geek who made his first ever 3D map
of the Lake District out of hand-cut plywood and plaster when he was just
11 years old. Since then creating the perfect map has been a life-long
goal.

Misha is former CEO of Fabric Technologies and a successful Tech
Entrepreneur. He is also on the Swiss Mountain Guide training scheme and
British ski mountaineering team.

FATMAP first launched on the Apple App Store in February 2015, followed by
the latest Android release. Hiking, trail running, mountain biking and more
3D maps to follow later in the year.
