Skiing Holidays in
France
There
are plenty of
skiing holidays available in France,
which is one of the most popular skiing destinations
in the world and has a good reputation for reliable
snow and well-kept slopes. The French Alps is the
most popular destination, with 23 skiing areas
ranging from 650 km of slopes to 80 km of slopes,
some with as many as 338 separate slopes. There are
plenty of resorts to choose from in each area: for
example, Les Trois Vallées has eight separate
resorts with another 11 sub resorts.
However,
while most people think about the Alps there are
also the Pyrenees, the Vosges, the Jura and the
Massif Central, all of which are fully equipped with
downhill slopes and
off-piste skiing
opportunities. When searching for deals in the
2011-2012 season for skiing holidays in France, look
at all these other destinations as well. These other
areas tend to be less travelled to by international
holiday-goers, so it will be generally quieter and
waiting times for everything from ski lifts to
restaurants will be much shorter.
Getting
to French slopes is quite simple: there are plenty
of airports in France that provide good access. From
some European countries, a ferry could take you and
your car into France for a relatively cheap price,
and you would then have the convenience of your own
vehicle for travelling. Taking the plane will
generally involve a bus ride from the airport to the
resort and some of these can be quite a large
